This course is for nurses, HCAs and other health professionals working in general practice and is designed to provide them with the knowledge and skills needed to perform spirometry accurately.
The training is based on the ARTP foundation course which covers how to perform quality assured spirometry. It includes how to maintain and calibrate equipment, how to perform a spirometry test with reproducibility and quality, a practical demonstration and how to read the final report.
By 2021 it is recommended that all staff recording spirometry are assessed and certified as being competent against ARTP standards and on the national spirometry register. This course does not include ARTP assessment and registration but details of how to obtain certification will be discussed on the day.
