Event Details

This hybrid study day is for Nurses, HCAs and AHPs.  It will consist of a half-day theory online followed by a practice skills session which will be delivered at the EQUIP training offices in Witham.

This event is suitable for those who are new or require an update of their skills.  There will be opportunities to practice these skills using case studies under the supervision of the trainer.

Course Content

Day one (a.m. only) will be an online session.  Day two will be a half day practical skills session in person at our training centre in Witham.  These sessions require booking.

  • History taking and assessment of bone, joint and soft tissue injuries that affect both upper and lower limbs, and spine.
  • Review of GALS screen
  • Identifying red flags in MSK assessment
  • Assessing and managing burns, wounds, splinters, bites and stings.

Trainer

Manuel Sevillano-Barbero has a Masters degree in Accident, Emergency and Critical care, which included an expertise course in critical care transport (essential to work for the Ambulance service as there are no Paramedics in Spain). In UK, he undertook a PG-Cert in Learning & Teaching in Higher Education and an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice, including a Non-Medical Prescribing V-300.

He is currently a Senior Lecturer-Practitioner and Clinical Skills Lead for Medicine at a local university where he was the lead for the Minor Illness module. He is also a National OSCE Examiner for Physician Associates.
