Healthcare Assistant

The Dengie Medical Partnership has a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our nursing team.

This important role will support the practice nursing team in the delivery of nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice and assist clinical staff in the provision of treatment, preventative care, health promotion and patient education.

The main responsibilities will include:

• Undertake new patient health checks.
• Support the practice nurse with health promotion programmes.
• Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, height, weight and BMI, recording findings accurately
• Carry out annual diabetic checks in line with guidance
• Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly with training
• Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required with training
• Undertake suture and staple removals with training
• Carry out ECGs as requested.
• Carry out BMI checks as directed.
• Undertake venepuncture once fully trained
• Provide support during minor operations as required.
• Ensure all clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session.

About the Candidate

If you are a qualified and experienced healthcare assistant, we look forward to hearing from you. You will have the following skills and qualifications:

• Healthcare qualification
• Phlebotomy certification desirable.
• Strong clinical skills.
• Experience of working with the general public within primary care or another healthcare setting essential.
• Confidence and competence in all HCA duties
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Consistently confidential manner, as well as a compassionate and respectful approach.
• Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities, as well as working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.

We are a small training and dispensing practice with a clinical team of GP’s, ANP’s and nurses, serving a patient population of 5,500 patients. We operate a SystmOne clinical system with a history of excellent QOF achievement and a CQC rating of outstanding. We are a member of the Dengie and South Woodham Ferrers Primary Care Network.
