Dr Kamilla Porter
Dr Kamilla Porter is the Clinical Lead at EQUIP and has been since April 2015 having originally joined the organisation as a clinical advisor in 2012. She continues to practise as GP in South East Essex. She has a broad experience of general practice and has worked as a salaried GP and locum doctor in a variety of practices. She is a longstanding member of South Essex LMC and helped to establish the popular South Essex GP self-directed learning group. EQUIP was commissioned to deliver the Essex Primary Care Inter-professional Centre (EPIC) for Workforce Development from 2015-2017. Kamilla has a wealth of knowledge, experience and a huge passion for Healthcare Education and Development.
Shirley Gair joined EQUIP in 1997 and is the Finance & Conference Co-ordinator. Her other duties include, managing the EQUIP Subscription Scheme, EQUIP website, databases & newsletters. She is responsible for the organisation and administration of large conferences and some other day courses.
Jill Warn worked for 9 years at a Chelmsford practice in a variety of roles, culminating in IT Manager. She joined EQUIP in September 2005 as IT Lead and Information Analyst and is now Audit & IT Lead. She is involved in related activities such as practice visits and support, Audit, QOF, CQRS, training and clinical systems support.
Jill McHale worked as administrative support for the Community and Nursing Staff at a GP surgery for approximately 8 years. She then became Audit Clerk at a surgery, until joining the EQUIP team in October 2003 as audit assistant & training coordinator.
Elaine Chapman worked as a secretary for the Department of Medicine for Older People at Whipps Cross Hospital prior to joining EQUIP in January 2005. She administers training courses for HCAs/Nurses.
Karen Morris joined EQUIP in June 2015 and currently works with Dr Kamilla Porter and the EPIC Workforce Development Project.
Lucy Archer works with EQUIP on a consultancy basis, providing education & training for Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistants
Sarah Bell joined EQUIP on 1st August 2017 following the transfer of hosts. Sarah manages the general operations of the organisation and is also the Finance Director.
In addition to her role at EQUIP, Sarah works for Essex Local Medical Committees Ltd (LMCs). Sarah shares her time between the two organisations.
Prior to joining the LMC, Sarah spent 15 years working in finance, mainly for financial institutions.
Dr Brian Balmer
Dr Balmer joined Equip on 1st August 2017 following the transfer of hosts. Brian is an Executive director and Chief Executive for EQUIP.
Dr Balmer is also the Chief Executive of the Essex Local Medical Committees Ltd (LMCs), which represents approx 1300 Essex GPs. His role includes personal and professional support to GPs and practices, as well as the promotion of GP interests and aspirations to NHS England, local authorities, CCGs and other bodies. He has previously been a member of the GPC (General Practitioners Committee) and within the GPC has specialised in workforce and commissioning/providing issues.
Prior to this Brian was a Health Authority Medical Advisor/Director in Essex and gained an MBA in 1996. He was a GP in East London for seven years and is a graduate of the University of Manchester. He continues to work as a locum GP.
