Burnham Surgery is a friendly, patient-focused GP practice committed to delivering high-quality healthcare to our local community. We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our clinical team and support the delivery of excellent patient care.
The Role
Working under the direction of the nursing team and GPs, you will assist in providing a range of clinical services to patients while ensuring a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out NHS health checks and routine observations.
- Record blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight and BMI.
- Deliver Phlebotomy Clinic.
- Undertake ECGs and other delegated clinical procedures.
- Support chronic disease monitoring clinics.
- Carry out new patient health checks.
- Maintain accurate patient records using the practice clinical system.
- Prepare and maintain clinical rooms and equipment.
- Assist with infection prevention and control procedures.
- Provide patients with health promotion advice and signposting where appropriate.
About You
The successful candidate will:
- Have previous experience working in a healthcare setting.
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be caring, professional and patient-focused.
- Be able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Demonstrate good organisational and IT skills.
- Hold a Healthcare Assistant qualification or be willing to undertake relevant training.
Desirable
- Experience in General Practice.
- Phlebotomy qualification/experience.
- Knowledge of NHS primary care systems and procedures.
