Salaried GP – Rectory Road Surgery
6–8 Sessions per Week | Negotiable
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and forward-thinking GP to join Rectory Road Surgery (formerly The Hollies), now under the leadership of Highlands Surgery.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed GP to join our multidisciplinary team on a 6–8 session per week basis, with sessions negotiable for the right candidate.
This is an exciting time to join the practice. Rectory Road Surgery is currently on a positive improvement and transformation journey, with a clear focus on strengthening clinical leadership, embedding robust governance, improving patient access and enhancing the quality and responsiveness of care provided to our local population.

About the Role
Working as part of our multidisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality, safe and effective primary care to our diverse patient population.
You will undertake the full range of duties expected of a GP working in primary care, including:
- Face-to-face, telephone and video consultations where required
- Home visits where clinically appropriate
- Assessment and management of acute and chronic conditions
- Management of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed presentations
- Prescribing and medication reviews
- Management and review of clinical results and investigations
- Referral management
- Safeguarding responsibilities
- Health promotion, disease prevention and screening
- Developing individualised care plans in partnership with patients
- Providing health education and advice
- Maintaining clear, accurate and contemporaneous clinical records
- Issuing acute and repeat prescriptions
- Reviewing hospital correspondence and pathology results
- Completing referrals, reports, forms and other clinical administration arising from your workload
- Responding to practice tasks and workflow items in a timely manner
- Supporting the delivery of enhanced services and contractual requirements
- Collecting data for audit and supporting QOF requirements
Session Structure and Workload
A GP session is normally 4 hours and 10 minutes, comprising approximately 3 hours of clinical time, with administrative time allocated at the end of each clinic.
The standard workload expectation is:
- Up to 16 patient contacts per clinical session
- Clinical complexity and safe working considered where demand exceeds appropriate limits
- Duty GP responsibilities allocated on a rota basis

Duty GP Responsibilities
When allocated as Duty GP, responsibilities may include:
- Filing and reviewing blood results
- Same-day triage via SystmOne and Anima
- Urgent appointment management
- Providing clinical advice to colleagues
- Clinical support to care homes
- Responding to prescription queries requiring GP input
- Prescription signing
- Afternoon document processing
Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement
You will be encouraged to play an active role in maintaining and improving the quality of our services.
Participation will include:
- Significant Event Analysis
- Clinical audit
- Quality Improvement Projects
- Safeguarding meetings
- Medicines optimisation initiatives
- Infection prevention and control
- CQC compliance and governance activities
You will also be expected to contribute to relevant clinical, practice and multidisciplinary team meetings, including PCN clinical meetings where appropriate.

About You
We are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking GP who is committed to delivering high-quality primary care and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment.
Essential Qualifications
Applicants must:
- Be a fully qualified GP with current GMC registration and licence to practise
- Be included on the NHS England Medical Performers List
- Participate in annual appraisal and meet revalidation requirements, where applicable
Skills and Experience
You will have:
- Good understanding and experience of chronic disease management
- Experience in primary prevention and screening
- Strong clinical decision-making and autonomous working skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A commitment to evidence-based practice
- An understanding of clinical governance, audit and quality improvement
- A commitment to continuing professional development and lifelong learning
- Awareness of and compliance with relevant practice policies and guidelines, including prescribing, confidentiality, information governance, data protection and health and safety
- The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

CPD, Appraisal and Professional Development
The successful GP will be expected to:
– Maintain GMC registration and licence to practise
– Participate in annual appraisal
– Meet GMC revalidation requirements
– Maintain appropriate CPD records
– Complete mandatory training
– Engage with audit and quality improvement activity
Mandatory training includes areas such as:
– Safeguarding Adults and Children
– Basic Life Support
– Information Governance
– Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
– Infection Prevention and Control
Professional development opportunities and study leave will be supported in accordance with the GP’s contract and practice policy.
Annual Leave and Study Leave
The successful candidate will be entitled to:
