Booking Your Courses

The Mid and South Essex (MSE) Training Hub is pleased to confirm that in response to the Government announcement of £150m increased investment in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for nurses and allied health professionals (AHPs), the following courses have been commissioned for the year 2021-2022

To ensure that the commissioned courses align to requirements we have held a series of ‘My CPD’ Webinars and conducted a Training Needs Analysis.

Who is eligible?

The funding is ringfenced for Nurses, AHPs and Nursing Associates. The full list is detailed below:

  • Nurses
  • Nursing Associates
  • Physicians Associates
  • Allied Health Professionals (including Dietitians, Occupational Therapists, Osteopaths, Paramedics, Physiotherapists, Podiatrists, and Speech and Language Therapists)

Please note the following professions are not eligible for this training:

  • Non-clinical/administration
  • Healthcare Assistants
  • Pharmacists
  • Agency or Locum staff

You also need to be employed within the Mid and South Essex Primary Care footprint and you may be requested to provide proof of this

  • maximum of 2 courses per eligible candidate for this current year (2021-2022) may be booked and you need to ensure that you have the authorisation to attend from your line manager.

How to Book

To book one of these events you will need an EQUIP online account   If you have not already set one up, it is a free and simple process. If you already have an EQUIP online account, ensure this is current and states which Practice you are currently employed by.

Please note:  These courses are not accessible from the public Essex EQUIP events page so you will need to come back to the private page to search for each course you need to book.

When your booking is complete it will be held as ‘pending’ until it has undergone a straightforward authorisation process by the MSE Training Hub.  Once the booking has been authorised, you will receive a booking confirmation email and the ticket for your course will appear in your account as confirmed.

Terms and Conditions

  • All bookings will be subject to authorisation by the MSE Training Hub
  • A maximum of 2 courses can be booked by each eligible candidate
  • Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the course date(s).  Cancellations made less than 48 hours of the course date(s) may exclude the candidate from any future training for 12 months (regardless of which financial year the cancellation took place)
  • Non-attendance of a training course may exclude the candidate from any future training for 12 months (regardless of which financial year the non-attendance took place)

CPD  accredited course for practice Nurses, new to taking cervical samples.  A combination of theoretical and practical training, followed by supervised practice with the support of a mentor and an external assessor.

A two-day online training event for Practice Nurses, Nurse Associates and Allied Healthcare Professionals, who are new to managing respiratory disease in Primary Care.

Asthma Update

This is a refresher/update study day for Practice Nurses and Nurse Practitioners who assess and manage Asthma patients in primary care.

Event Details

This course is designed for those new to wound care.  The course aims to enable Practice Nurses, AHPs and Nursing Associates to obtain the knowledge and skills they need to perform wound care and remove sutures/staples.

The course consists of a half-day online training with a short practical skills session, held at our Witham training rooms.

You will also be required to undergo a period of supervised practice with a nurse mentor.  A competency assessment package will be provided.
