We are a friendly and welcoming GP practice serving 14,500 patients across two locations: Ambrose Avenue and Tollgate in Colchester. We are seeking a strategic and experienced individual with a proven track record in business and people management to fill the role of Practice Manager.

The ideal candidate will possess strong skills in human resources, operations, and quality improvement. They will provide professional leadership to our team and work closely with the GP Partners and management team to ensure the effective delivery of high-quality, sustainable services.

The successful candidate will play a central role in managing and further developing the practice, joining a team that prioritises training, has a clear vision for the future, and is dedicated to patient-centred care.

This is a full-time role, requiring 37.5 hours per week over five days.

Role details:

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for providing organisational leadership, enhancing services, and achieving key targets in all clinical and administrative areas of the practice. A high level of personal organisation is essential, along with a systematic approach to problem-solving and planning. The practice adopts a dynamic and forward-thinking perspective, embracing change and striving to remain at the forefront of developments.
  • We are seeking an individual who can work closely with the three Partners. You will receive support from the Finance Manager, Operations Manager, and a capable administrative team. The clinical team consists of eight GPs, GP Trainee, four advanced nurse practitioners, three nurses, two healthcare assistants, and various allied health professionals, including GP Assistant, Health & Wellbeing Coach, Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technicians, Care Coordinator, Social Prescriber and Care Advisor.
  • In this position, you will manage, coordinate, and oversee all aspects of practice functionality. Your responsibilities will include motivating and managing staff, optimising efficiency and performance, and ensuring that the practice achieves its long-term strategic objectives in a safe and effective working environment. By implementing innovative working methods, you will lead the team in promoting continuous improvement, maintaining confidentiality, fostering collaboration, ensuring service delivery, and facilitating learning and development, all while ensuring compliance with CQC regulations.
