Baddow Village Surgery has an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Medical Administrator to take on the role of GP Practice Assistant (GPA) to help make a positive impact on our local community. The GPA is a support role, covering administrative tasks as part of our multi-disciplinary primary care team and therefore contributing to the smooth running of the surgery.

The some of the responsibilities of the GPA role will include:

  • Assisting with workflow/clinical correspondence
  • Community referrals
  • Cancer care reviews
  • QOF work
  • Assisting with emails and correspondence received by the Surgeries
  • Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes
  • Chase blood tests results from the hospital, asking laboratory to send them
  • Chase up radiology and other test result
  • Advise the local authority or local Health Protection Team of suspected cases of certain infectious diseases
  • Assist GPs particularly when there is a need to call an ambulance on behalf of a patient.
  • Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign
  • Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies, e.g., getting an on-call doctor on the phone to ask advice
  • Other administrative tasks as required

  • Able to multi-task, work hard and maintain high level of attention to detail when under pressure.
  • Able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, as well as comfortable working independently
  • Some flexibility is required as you will sometimes need to work additional/alternative hours to cover for colleagues.

About Us:

The Chelmsford City Health Primary Care Network consists of four separate surgeries (Baddow Village, Beauchamp House, Stock and Whitley House Surgeries). All the practices are part of a network which was formed to benefit from shared resources and to enable the team to offer healthcare services at scale to its population of 42,000 patients. Two of the practices are dispensing practices and all four are training practices. We use the clinical system, SystmOne, for which training will be provided during induction.
