We are a friendly, supportive GP training practice caring for approximately 7,000 patients. Due to increasing demand and service development, we are seeking an experienced Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to join our clinical team. The successful candidate will initially work 18–22 hours per week, with the possibility of increasing hours as the role evolves.
This is an excellent opportunity for an HCA with primary care experience who is committed to delivering safe, high‑quality, patient‑centred care.
Main Duties of the Job
As an integral member of the clinical team, you will undertake a broad range of primary care duties, including:
- Phlebotomy
- Blood pressure monitoring and pulse checks
- ECG recording
- NHS Health Checks
- Wound care and basic dressings
- Assisting with chronic disease management
- Vaccinations (if appropriately trained)
- Height, weight, BMI and lifestyle assessments
- Supporting the nursing team and GPs with day‑to‑day clinical workload
- Maintaining accurate and timely clinical records
- Promoting health and wellbeing to support patient self‑management
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous HCA experience within a GP or primary care setting (essential)
- Hold a recognised qualification
- Be confident working independently while contributing positively to a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrate excellent communication, professionalism and patient‑centred values
- Be adaptable, reliable, and eager to develop new skills—particularly important in a training practice environment
