John Tasker House and Felsted surgeries are a thriving GP practice serving a growing list of approximately 15,000 patients. Located on two sites in Great Dunmow and Felsted we are a dispensing and training practice with a large team of more than 50 staff who work together to provide the best possible care for our patients.
As Practice Manager, you will be at the heart of our practice, working alongside our 5 friendly and supportive GP Partners. We are looking for an experienced and motivated manager to lead the HR, operational, compliance and patient relationship functions of our busy GP surgery. As a leader you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth, safe and effective running of the practice while supporting our clinical and administrative teams.
The successful candidate will provide visible and effective leadership and oversight, support continuous improvement and maintain high standards of patient care and regulatory compliance.
Main duties of the job
- Operational Leadership: provide clear and effective management of the day-to-day operations of the practice.
- HR & People Management: recruitment, staff wellbeing , performance management and staff development.
- Compliance & Governance: ensure compliance with CQC standards, NHS contractual requirements , IG regulations, policies, risk assessments and audits.
- Financial Management: financial planning, budgeting and business performance.
- Strategic Planning: drive business planning, quality improvement, service development and long-term organisational stability.
- Patient Focus: Ensure high-quality patient experience, complaints handling and communication.
- Wider relationships: build strong relationships with PCN Practice Managers, the ICB, local community groups and businesses
- Leadership & Culture: Foster a positive, supportive and collaborative working environment.

Essential
We are looking for someone who is:
An experienced manager with a proven background in healthcare.
A confident, capable leader who is able to motivate and support staff whilst building strong relationships with partners, clinicians, staff and stakeholders.
Committed to patient care and continuous improvement.
Skilled in problem-solving, prioritisation and decision-making with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.
Confident using SystmOne
Desirable
at least 3+ years experience and/or Practice Management qualification is desirable.
