This course has been commissioned by NHS West Essex CCG and will be provided free of charge to practices within this CCG locality.
This course is for GPs and is designed to provide them with the knowledge and skills needed to interpret spirometry accurately.
The training is based on the ARTP requirements on how to interpret spirometry reports appropriately. The course covers what a quality reproducible spirometry trace looks like as per ARTP recommendations, how to interpret the spirometry report and a discussion of case studies.
By 2021 it is recommended that all staff interpreting spirometry are assessed and certified as being competent against ARTP standards and on the national spirometry register. This course does not include ARTP assessment and registration but details of how to obtain certification will be discussed at the end of the day.
