Essex EQUIP is launching a Practice Nurse Essential Skills course for nurses that are new to general practice.
This course is accredited by the CPD Certification Service.
Practice nursing attracts nurses from a wide variety of backgrounds and whilst these nurses have many transferable skills practice nursing requires a unique skill set that is not easily obtained elsewhere.
This course aims to standardise the introduction to the role of general practice nurse whilst providing students with the knowledge and skills they need to work effectively as general practice nurses. In recognition of the fact that the role of practice nurse is varied, the course covers the fundamental skills and competencies that most practices require.
The course consists of 8 face to face study days, self-directed learning and supervised practice under the guidance of a nurse mentor in practice. Course assessment is via completion of a competency assessment and a reflective case study.
Course content:
- The role of the practice nurse and the general practice team
