Who is eligible?   Agency or locum staff are not eligible for this training.

Terms & Conditions

  • All bookings are to be made via the Essex EQUIP website
  • In order to book one of these events, you will need an EQUIP online account.  If you have not already set one up, it is a free and simple process
  • All bookings will be subject to authorisation by GP Primary Choice
  • Cancellations are acceptable, but GP Primary Choice request these are made at least 15 days prior to the start of the course.  Any cancellations within 14 days of the course date(s) may result in the practice being charged the full cost of the course.
  • Non-attendance of a training course may result in the practice being charged the full cost of the course fee(s)

Eligibility

  • Delegates need to be employed within the GP Primary Choice footprint.

Please choose ‘My Account’ on the top right of the Events page.  Click ‘Register now’.  Upon set up you will be able to add to cart your chosen course(s) and check out.  Please note that you will need to come back to this private page to search for each course you need to book.  These courses are not accessible from the public Essex EQUIP events page.

When your booking is complete it will be held as ‘pending’ until it has undergone an authorisation process by GP Primary Choice.  Once the booking has been authorised, you will receive a booking confirmation email and the ticket for your course will appear in your account as confirmed.

Event Details

This course is accredited by the CPD Certification Service.

A one day workshop to deliver training to staff working in GP practices. The training programme is based on NHS England’s correspondence management and optimisation recommendations. The course is for Managers, experienced Administration Staff, Scanners, Read coders. 

The aim is to provide students with the knowledge, confidence and skills to process all incoming correspondence about patients from hospitals, community services and other healthcare organisations freeing up GPs time.

This workshop is a mix of theory and practice with taught sessions, discussion and group work. There is also the opportunity to share good practice and discuss the implementation of safe processes, policies and audit.

Course content is as follows:

  • Explanation of correspondence management and workflow optimisation
  • What is a low-risk letter type?
  • Identifying key actions, read codes, and medication changes
  • Understanding the clinical system – default areas, templates, capturing information
  • Enhance staff Read code knowledge (SNOMED)
  • Protocol and processes to ensure the optimisation works smoothly and in a way the partners feel comfortable with the way letters are handled
  • Group work – discussions, exercises and practical work
