The Writtle Surgery is looking for an experienced 2-3 day per week Health Care Assistant for a fixed term contract (maternity leave cover to 31 March 2025), to join our close-knit friendly team. Reporting to the Lead Practice Nurse you will be working with a team of 3 practice nurses in a supportive and caring environment.

The health care assistant will be able to apply their clinical skills and knowledge to carry out high quality practice within designated clinical areas, such as:

– Wound care, venepuncture, phlebotomy checks and administration of vaccines,
– New patient health checks,
– NHS Health Checks,
– Re-stocking and stock rotation of surgical equipment and vaccines,
– Clearing and re-stocking of consultation rooms,
– Preparing and maintaining clinical rooms and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions, including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations, coil insertions/removals and contraceptive implants/removals,
– Providing valuable health promotion and education for patients, their families and carers,
– Supporting the team to ensure that regular equipment checks/water temperatures are undertaken.

This role will offer you the opportunity to build on your experience, skills and competence, requiring you to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

About us: The Writtle Surgery is a 3 partner semi-rural dispensing practice of approximately 8,000 patients. We have 3 salaried GPs, and a fully staffed team including practice nurses, dispensers, administrators, clinical pharmacists and receptionists. We are an active member of our primary care network.
