Details of Role

Following the release of ARRS GP funding, Colne Valley Primary Care Network (PCN) is looking for a GP to join our team. We are seeking someone newly qualified within the last 2 years, who has not yet held a substantive position post qualification. The role will initially be for a fixed term, two-year position and a maximum of 6 sessions per week.

The successful candidate will be based in The Coggeshall Surgery, which is a semi-rural, part dispensing practice with 3 partners known for its reputation of being a friendly and highly supportive surgery with an outstanding rating on its last CQC inspection.

The successful candidate will be employed by the PCN, and working as part of our multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to support and care for our patient group. You will work under the clinical supervision of the GP Partners in your host surgery with protected CPD time. This is an opportunity to join a forward-thinking Practice who work closely together and are supported by strong clinical teams.

The role will include all general duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within Primary Care:

  • Undertaking a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Assisting with online clinical triage.
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting medical problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation.
  • Assessing the healthcare needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
  • Providing health education.
  • Recording clear consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements.
  • Delivering enhanced services.
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions
  • Working within their boundaries, seeking help and guidance.

About the Candidate
All applicants should have the following qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Current GMC registration
  • Good understanding and experience of chronic disease management, and primary prevention and screening services.
  • Ability to take responsibility for your own career development, learning and performance and responsible for ensuring that all mandatory training is in date.
  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant practice policies and guidelines, e.g. prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety.
  • Commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence-based best practice.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a confidential manner.
  • Evidence of CCT or favourable ARCP progression if still on training (AKT/SCA)

Colne Valley PCN covers 6 practices (approximately 59,000 patients) across Mid and South Essex. Our team includes, a pharmacy team, social prescribers, health and wellbeing coaches, cancer care team, mental health professionals, GP Assistants, enhanced nurse, paramedics and care co-ordinators.
